How to use legally the varieties protected with PVR?
- for sowing, a farmer shall use only certified seed, purchased from reliable, licensed sellers
- if sowing the harvested seed, a farmer shall fairly pay the FSS fee
These activities are illegal:
- offering or selling for sowing non-certified seed or seed potatoes, without a license from the breeder
- sowing of acquired non-certified seed or seed potatoes
- sowing the harvested seed of hybrid varieties or population varieties not allowed by law
- sowing the harvested seed of PVR protected varieties without paying the FSS fee
